Our New Housing – An Invitation to Cooperate (exhibition)

Description
This exhibition unpacked the potential of housing cooperatives as a means of addressing Luxembourg's housing crisis. Grounded in the curator’s PhD research, it presented the status quo of the crisis, the principles of co-ops, historical precedents from other countries, and the architectural diversity that participatory design processes within a de-commodified logic can deliver. It concluded with a call for action through the launch of For Future Members Only, a platform connecting individuals interested in joining co-ops. The exhibition and its public programme aimed to introduce housing cooperatives to Luxembourg, trigger curiosity and public discourse, and generate real interest in this alternative housing model.
STATEMENT OF THE JURY
“An exhibition is experienced both through its curatorial discourse and its scenographic and textual development within the space. The impossibility of experiencing the exhibition itself, ephemeral by nature, led us instead to focus on the contribution, impact, and lasting relevance of the project’s curatorial discourse in Luxembourg. In this respect, Céline Zimmer’s project is remarkable, as it goes beyond the concept and its presentation, enabling new reflections and concrete initiatives to emerge around the model of housing cooperatives.”
