Möllerei

Description

The Möllerei is one of the industrial remains of the Belval site and is a symbolic building. Built in 1912, much of the building is classified. 170 m long, its volumetry and envelope have been preserved as characteristic features of the site. The University library occupies part of it (110 m). The remaining section was rehabilitated for Esch2022 – European Capital of Culture, serving as an exhibition space, and is also part of the blast furnace visitor route. The challenge of this project is to intervene with the greatest respect for the existing building, in order to restore this industrial vestige to its former glory.
