Conversion of the Maison d’Osbourg into a Music School
Bureau d'architecture WeB
Description
The open inner courtyard of the building is covered with glass to create the possibility of a multifunctional hall. In this way, the exterior façade of the historic building is visually preserved. The open-plan stage creates a generous connection to the adjoining garden. In summer, the function of the hall can be extended outdoors. The inner courtyard area was given an additional basement level to create urgently needed storage space.
The existing building had to be renovated and restored due to severe structural damage. In addition, acoustic and technical measures were taken to fulfil its function as a music school. The historic building was restored in compliance with heritage preservation regulations.
