Ariston
WW+ architektur + management sàrl
Description
Threatened with demolition and closed in 2016, Ariston cinema became a historic monument via public advocacy, acquired by the city of Esch. As part of Esch 2022, the Ariston, centrally located in the “carré culturel,” was carefully restored. Revitalization aimed to restore its 1962 appearance while adapting it to today’s needs. The building now features, among others, a theatre auditorium with modern stage tech, usable for film screenings. Reusability and environmental sustainability were material priorities. Ariston, historically a lively, familiar neighbourhood hub, now resumes its role as a cultural, social gathering place and Esch Theater’s second venue, particularly for young audiences.
