Campus Scolaire Echternach

Atelier PRO, Den Haag (NL), LPH 1-2
Description
At an early stage environmental considerations were incorporated at the Echternach school campus. During design phase, the building volume was reduced through participatory creation of synergies among the three users. During construction, a hybrid wood-concrete-system ensured targeted use of materials: The concrete base, supported by bored piles, protects upper floors of prefabricated insulated CLT wall systems from flooding. Additionally, nighttime cooling, intelligent shading, and green roofs create a balanced indoor climate. Adaptability and reusability were considered: Structures are bolted, dismantlable, allowing components to return to the resource cycle.
