Shared Space Bous
FORM SOCIETY ARCHITECTS
Description
Enhancement of public space and traffic calming in the town centre of Bous was achieved by transforming the former busy through-road into a shared space with improved public amenities. A participatory process with residents, including workshops led by FORM SOCIETY, enabled the integration of adjacent private forecourts into the design.
The street level is unified across the entire area to ensure equal use by all road users. Two-coloured paving patterns define square-like areas and structure the public space. New gathering areas were created near the church and in front of the school, shaded by trees. Planting beds and seating increase greenery and help prevent illegal parking.
