Who can participate
The Luxembourg Architecture Award (LAA) is awarded to works by architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, and urban planners.
The LAA will be given to the authors of the works in order to promote and encourage professional creativity and excellence in the architectural field in Luxembourg.
WHO
The work(s) can be submitted by:
- AUTHORS
Architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, urban planners. - PUBLIC AND PRIVATE OWNERS (NEW!)
Wishing to promote the architectural quality of their buildings, structures, interiors and outdoor spaces (with the agreement of the authors).
...and WHAT
The LAA is awarded by an international jury to works:
- completed between October 1, 2015 and October 16, 2019
- in the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
The LAA categories are:
- Residential architecture
- Non-residential architecture
- Interior design
- Landscape architecture & Outdoor/public spaces
- Civil engineering structures
Any work that has received an award or honourable mention in a previous edition of this competition is NOT eligible.
LAA criteria
The jury will assess the submitted projects on the following criteria:
- Architectural significance, identity and character of the work
- Concept functionality, quality and use of space
- Use of built and unbuilt space in relation to the environment such as outdoor spaces, landscape, street space etc.
Awards
The jury will evaluate applications in order to nominate up to 10 finalists in each LAA category before determining, if applicable, one winner per category.

The jury reserves the right not to award the full number of awards if it deems it appropriate. The jury is sovereign in its approach. Deliberations are confidential and jury decisions are final and without appeal.
SPECIAL AWARDS
- SPECIAL JURY AWARD
Can be assigned to a work that has attracted the jury attention.
- AUDIENCE AWARD
Will be assigned through an online public vote. Only the jury selected finalist works can participate.
- LUCA HONORARY AWARD
Will be assigned by the LUCA Luxembourg Center for Architecture in recognition of the career of an architect, engineer, interior designer, landscape architect, urban planner or to a person or group actively promoting the Baukultur.
Deadline
Only applications submitted online not later than the 16 October 2019 will be evaluated by the jury.
