Wild Site

Description

Wild Site explores the fleeting by-products of an ever-changing city: gaps between buildings, brownfields, residual spaces and other “wild sites”. Edited by das BAU — Eva Herunter, Katharina Hummer and Julia Obleitner — the book brings together five conversations with researchers from biology, geology, climatology, botany, landscape architecture, urbanism and architecture, accompanied by photographs by Zara Pfeifer. Rather than treating urban voids as empty plots awaiting development, it reveals them as complex ecosystems with inherent value. Designed by Jan van der Kleijn, the publication is a tactile plea for unprogrammed space, spontaneous growth and the richness of what already exists.
