MAISON WORMER

Description

Renovation and extension of a mansion at the shore of the Moselle. The old part of the house has been carefully restored, the attic floor transformed into a master suite. The new part grafts onto the existing load-bearing axes and develops a far more open structure towards the river, thus creates a cosier, more enclosed condition in the existing rooms, but adds an open living space with kitchen. With a color palette and material canon that bind the old and new together, the project aims at bringing into balance the traditional and contemporary tectonics and forming a new architectural symbiosis.
