Description
In a residential neighbourhood, a family wishes to adapt their home to their changing needs, to accommodate their adult children, whilst ensuring that everyone retains their privacy and personal space. To achieve this, the clients have opted to build a new extension. The link between the rear façade of the existing house and the new extension is formed by the plot of land, which unfolds like a ribbon. By bending the ribbon, a space takes shape: the dwelled gable end. For this new construction, movement and fluidity are at the heart of the design. They are expressed on the façade of the new ‘ribbon house’ through a wave of wooden slats that unfurls across it, like a dance-like movement.
