SERVICE CIMETIERES
SCHEMEL WIRTZ ARCHITECTES ASSOCIES SARL
Description
The new Service Cimetières facility in Merl embodies sustainable public architecture through a hybrid prefabricated timber–concrete system. Organized around a central courtyard, the complex ensures discretion and operational efficiency while minimizing its impact on the surrounding cemetery. The use of timber structures, mineral wool insulation and prefabrication reduces environmental footprint and construction time. Integrated photovoltaic panels, rainwater recovery and a green roof enhance energy performance. Partially embedded in the landscape, the project blends into its context while promoting durable, low-impact construction.
