Town Hall Extension Koerich
Colum and Anne-Catherine MULHERN
Description
The Municipality in Koerich asked us to design an extension to their town hall that would enhance the centre of the village and be in phase with the Commune’s ambitions in terms of ecology and tourism.
We planned their building in a vernacular/classical style using durable materials and preferring harmony rather than contrast, so that it would not be outdated after twenty years, as so often are buildings built today.
If the citizens still find the building attractive in the future, they will not want to demolish and replace it.
The best example of a circular economy is when people are willing to use buildings as they are, so that they do not need to be dismantled or recycled.
