Description
For this series of 89 photographs, Yann Tonnar has hiked along the topographical boundaries of his homewotwn - Luxembourg city - to document the cracks in its seamless urban fabric: the peripheries reclaimed by nature, the margins where the architectural fabric seems to unravel, the blind spots of urban planning, but also the city boundaries that are continuously pushed back by new construction sites. With their abstract yet critical view of the built environment and the human imprint on the landscape, his images stand in the tradition of the seminal New Topographics exhibition (1975), which marked a turning point in landscape photography.
