The project renovates and transforms a former rural house in Alzingen, representative of local vernacular heritage. It preserves the existing identity while introducing a contemporary, open, and light-filled spatial quality. The protected main façade is carefully restored, while the interior is fully restructured to create fluid spaces organized around a central axis. The former barn becomes the main living area, with a double-height space and generous natural light from a large glazed opening. The design highlights a dialogue between old and new, combining exposed stone walls with minimal contemporary elements, while integrating sustainable solutions for energy performance and comfort.
