MAISON RELAIS ET ECOLE CYCLE 1 & 2

Description

Le complexe scolaire sur le site du château de Mersch est agrandi et complété par une maison relais et une école pour les cycles inférieurs. Ces deux fonctions sont abritées dans un nouveau et unique bâtiment : un simple parallélépipède, implanté en bord du site.

Par rapport à l’école et l’administration communale voisine, le nouveau bâtiment est placé de manière à cadrer une variété de cours de récréation. Par des chemins, escaliers, prolongements et ouvertures, ces espaces de jeu et de détente sont connectés au tissu urbain du centre de Mersch : les gens s’y promènent et les utilisent de manière naturelle.

En regroupant structure relais et école, le nouveau bâtiment favorise les échanges. Le plan simple à couloir central permet une utilisation évolutive au cours de la journée. La maison relais accueille 330 enfants dans 11 salles. L’école compte 8 salles. Une cuisine de production ainsi qu’une cuisine didactique, une salle de défoulement et un centre d’examen médico-sportif viennent compléter l’offre.

Les finitions intérieures se veulent pflegeleicht et à tendance brute. L’aspect neutre appelle à la créativité décorative des enfants, qui vont s’identifier aux lieux en les personnalisant. L’apparence extérieure oscille entre l’austérité formelle du parallélépipède et le rythme ludique des façades sans jamais trahir les exigences formulées par le Maitre d’Ouvrage, avec les mots : « quadratisch, praktisch, gut ».

CHILD CARE CENTER AND SCHOOL CYCLE 1 & 2

The school complex on the site of Mersch Castle is extended and completed by a child care center and a school for lower cycles. These two functions are housed in a new and single building: a simple parallelepiped, located on the edge of the site.

The new building is positioned in order to frame a variety of playgrounds and outside courtyards together with the existing school and the neighbouring municipal administration. Through paths, stairs, extensions and openings, these play and relaxation areas are connected to the urban fabric of the center of Mersch: people walk and use them in a natural way.

By bringing together a child care center and a school, the new building encourages exchanges. The simple plan design allows an evolutionary use during the day. The relay house welcomes 330 children in 11 rooms. The school has 8 rooms. A production kitchen as well as a didactic kitchen, a sports room and a medical-sport examination center complete the offer.

The interior finishes are intended pflegeleicht and have a raw tendency. The neutral aspect calls for the decorative creativity of children, who will identify with the places by personalizing them. The external appearance oscillates between the formal austerity of the parallelepiped and the playful rhythm of the facades without ever betraying the requirements formulated by the Client, with the words: “quadratisch, praktisch, gut”.
